NORTHERN YORK COUNTY REGIONAL POLICE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES $37,074 GRANT TO PROVIDE A HANDS-ON CAMPAIGN ADDRESSING THE MISUSE AND ABUSE OF ALCOHOL, DRUGS AND DISTRACTED DRIVING.

The Northern York County Regional Police Department, has received a $37,074 grant from Memorial Health Fund to support its Smart Decisions Prevent Collisions with SIDNE Program.  Announcement of the grant was made by Jane M. Conover, President of the Community Foundation, whose Board of Directors approved the grant on October 26, 2016.

Chief Mark Bentzel, said the funds would be used to purchase SIDNE, the Simulated Impaired Driving Experience and its program support within our school districts.  SIDNE and its prevention tools, resources and training will provide a hands-on campaign addressing the misuse and abuse of alcohol, drugs and distracted driving.

The Smart Decisions Prevent Collisions with SIDNE will be incorporated into the Defensive Driving Curriculums currently offered at each of our school districts, our Senior Defensive Driving Courses and community events such as National Night Out.

The Memorial Health Fund improves the complete physical, mental and social well-being of the residents of York, Pennsylvania and its surrounding communities.
