On 06.21.17 the Northern York County Regional Police Department investigated a diversion burglary in the 600 block of Capitol Hill Road in Franklin Township.

The 86 year female homeowner reported that at approximately 2000 hours there was a male knocking on the door of the residence.  The male advised the victim that he was with a tree service and that PennDOT was going to be doing some tree removal near the far edge of her property.  The male then asked the victim to accompany him to the edge of the property to discuss what trees were being removed.

The victim accompanied the male and spoke to him for nearly 20 minutes.  During this time the male received several phone calls.  The victim and the male then returned to the home.  The male then got into the passenger side of a vehicle that was parked halfway down the driveway.  After the vehicle left, the victim discovered that her floor safe and jewelry were gone from her bedroom.  The safe was large enough that at least 2 people would have had to carry it.

The victim described the male as a white male with a stocky build.  He was 40-50 years old with brown hair.  he was wearing a yellow baseball cap, a white t shirt, and a Sherwin Williams work shirt.

The vehicle was described as a dark colored 4 door vehicle.

The investigation into this incident continues.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northern York County Regional Police Department at 717.292.3647, through our tip line at 717.467.8355, or tips@nycrpd.org.
