SUBJECT: Fatal Traffic Accident

On Wednesday July 14, 2010 at 2329 hours the Northern York County Regional Police responded to a motorcycle vs. vehicle crash on Roosevelt Ave near Greenbriar Road.
On scene investigation found that a 2006 Harley Davidson Road King, operated by Jonathan Sowers age 34 of York, was travelling northbound on Roosevelt Ave. A 2004 Hyundai Sonata, operated by a 17 yoa female of York, was travelling southbound on Roosevelt Ave attempting to make a left turn into the Rutter’s Farm Store. The southbound Hyundai turned left into the path of the northbound motorcycle.
Sowers, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to York Hospital by West York EMS. He was pronounced dead at York Hospital.
The juvenile female was transported to York Hospital for minor injuries.
