SUBJECT: Arrest for theft of speed timing equipment

On March 10, 2010 at 4:10 pm, while addressing citizen’s complaints about speeding on Woodland View Drive in Manchester Twp, The Northern York County Regional Police arrested Joaquin Sierra-Abrew, age 50 of York, for attempting to steal the speed timing equipment from along the roadway.
Officers from the Northern York County Regional Police Department were conducting an ENRADD speed enforcement detail at the intersection of Woodland View Drive and Haymeadow Drive. A Northern Regional officer was parked on Haymeadow Drive in an unmarked black Ford Crown Victoria. The ENRADD device, which consists of two aluminum assemblies, was set up on both sides of Woodland View Drive. At 4:10 pm a black Ford pickup driven by Sierra-Abrew stopped on Woodland View Drive in front of the officer. Sierra-Abrew exited his vehicle and proceeded to the side of the roadway. Sierra-Abrew then disconnected the ENRADD device from its battery pack and placed the device into the bed of the truck. Sierra-Abrew then retrieved the battery pack and also placed it into the bed of the truck. Officers then took Sierra-Abrew into custody. The ENRADD device was recovered undamaged.
Joaquin Sierra-Abrew was taken to Central Booking and arraigned on the following charges;
- Theft by Unlawful Taking – Misdemeanor 1
- Receiving Stolen Property – Misdemeanor 1
- Driver’s required to be licensed.
MDJ Olwert set bail at $15,000.00 and Sierra-Abrew was committed to the York County Prison.
