NYCRPD Criminal Investigators filed charges against a total of six juvenile offenders between the ages of 13 and 15 in connection with a series of vehicle break in cases in the Dover Township and Dover Borough areas from during the period of January 2010 to June 2010.

The arrests follow an investigation which resulted in the apprehension of juveniles by the NYCRPD Patrol Division after an alert citizen called 911 reporting suspicious activities. Responding NYCRPD Patrol Officers engaged in an area search and apprehended a juvenile who was subsequently charged with curfew violations and admitted to participation in the thefts from vehicles.

NYCRPD investigators were able to link the group of suspects to approximately 60 thefts from vehicles. The items taken included cash, electronic items, and anything of general value to the perpetrators, total losses are in excess of $5,000.00.

Charging documents were filed with juvenile authorities charging the defendants with the following offenses:

Theft

Receiving stolen property

Due to the age of the defendants their names and addresses are unable to be disclosed. All suspects were released to the custody of their parents pending further juvenile court actions. The NYCRPD has requested there be full restitution to the victims as part of the charging and adjudication process.
