Arrest Made in Air Conditioner Thefts

On 10/11/2010 at 1130 hours the Northern York County Regional Police arrested Raymond Gieda, age 42 of the 700 block of Cassell Road in York Haven, for the thefts of 21 air conditioner condensers.   Gieda was arrested at his home while loading disassembled air conditioner condensers into the rear hatch of a Ford Focus hatchback.

Gieda provided information to investigators that he was a drug addict and that he was stealing the condensers to sell for scrap to support his drug habit.  Gieda advised that each condenser was worth $20.00 in scrap.

Gieda is at Central Booking awaiting arraignment on the following charges;

  1. Theft by Unlawful Taking or Disposition
  2. Receiving Stolen Property

The 21 air conditioning condensers had a total replacement value of $56,200.00
