On 05.13.2011 at 03:43 hours, NYCRPD officers responded to a 911 call for a reported suspicious subject, and discovered a burglary in progress at the residence next door to the 911 caller. The call involved one 911 call and two separate residences.
A 20-year-old Manchester Township man was apprehended during the police investigation and was taken into custody and charged with various crimes related to burglary and trespass.
The incident began when resident of the 900 block of East Cherrywine Drive dialed 911 and reported a person was banging on the front door of her home and there was an unknown type of vehicle leaving the area.
While NYCRPD officers were checking this dwelling and the immediate area for intruders, a subject approached the officers and advised that there was an intruder in the house next door.
This person had been alerted to the intruder after a female family member escaped the home and ran to the nearby family members home for assistance and told the male subject there was an intruder inside of the family house located in the 900 block of East Cherrywine Drive.
Investigating officers began perimeter check of the victim’s residence and observed a garage was open, this door led into a foyer area of the home, where another open door was found. Police identified the home occupants and evacuated them to a safe position outside as the search of the home continued.
Searching officers located a white male, naked in a bedroom, hiding under the covers pretending to be asleep. The male was identified as DAVID DARR, age 20, of 1149 Sarazen Way in York, PA, he also reported to arresting officers he attends the main campus of Penn State where he is a student.
DARR was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the York County Central Booking Center for arrest booking and arraignment.
DARR was charged with the following offenses:
- Burglary
- Criminal Trespass
- Loitering and Prowling At Night
