On 09.19.2011 at 0446 hours a resident of the 500 block of South Lake Road reported that two subjects had just stolen two of his ATVs at gunpoint.  The victim reported that he had heard noises outside his home.  As he went out to investigate, he observed a large Ford pickup to be backed into his driveway.  A medium sized silver sedan was parked on South Lake Road in front of his residence.  The victim advised that he observed two of his small (children’s sized) ATVs in the back of the pickup truck.  As the victim approached the truck the subject nearest the truck pointed a shotgun at the victim.  The victim retreated and the pickup truck and sedan travelled northbound on South Lake Road.

A Northern York County Regional Police Officer was near the intersection of South Lake Road and SR30.  The officer observed the pickup truck and attempted to stop the vehicle.  The vehicle travelled eastbound onto SR 30 and then southbound onto Labott Road.  The truck then turned into an unharvested cornfield and the officer lost sight of the pickup truck.

Other responding officers located the pickup truck abandoned at a residence in the 6100 block of Lincoln Highway West.  The ATVs were still in the bed of the truck, but the operator could not be found.

The investigation into this incident continues.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Northern York County Regional Police at 717.292.3647 or use the crime tip reporting portion of this website.
