On 12.12.2011 Northern York County Regional Police Officers and K-9 Officers from Newberry Township Police Department and York Area Regional Police Department were requested by the Dover Area School District to complete a K-9 check of vehicles parked in the parking lot of the Dover Area High School.    During this check, a K-9 from York Area Regional Police alerted on a vehicle for the presence of controlled substances.

School officials summoned the vehicle owner to the parking lot.  Cody James Reinhold age 18 gave school officials permission to search his vehicle.  In the subsequent search, school officials located marihuana smoking devices as well as two shotguns.  Both shotguns, one a 20 gauge the other a 12 gauge, were found in the rear seat area of the vehicle.  The weapons were not loaded, but ammunition was found near them.  Reinhold advised that he had been hunting crows yesterday and did not take the guns out of the vehicle.

Cody James Reinhold of the 5400 block of Harmony Grove Road in Dover Township was taken into custody and transported to Central Booking to processed and arraigned on the following charges;

  • Weapons on School Property
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

There was no indication during the investigation that Reinhold had brought these weapons to school property with the intent to harm anyone.

The investigation into this incident continues.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northern York County Regional Police Department at 717.292.3647 or use the crime tip reporting portion of this website.
