On 02/04/12 at 2300 hrs. the Northern York County Regional Police Department was requested to respond to Lincoln Highway in Jackson Township for a boy standing out on the sidewalk. The witness advised she found a five year old boy standing along Lincoln Highway. The boy was dressed in a t-shirt, shorts, and was barefoot. The boy was crying and stated that he was looking for his mother. The boy advised that his mother stated she was going to the store. Police took the boy to 5389 Lincoln Highway Apt. C Thomasville, PA 17364 in Jackson Township York County, PA. Inside the home they found the wandering child’s six year old brother. There was no adult supervision. Police located the boys’ mother, 37 year old Connie Evans, at a tavern several miles from her home. Connie Evans explained that she went to the tavern to pick up a friend who had called her for a ride. Connie Evans stated that she thought everything would be fine because she did not think she would be gone long and that both boys were sleeping when she left the residence. Connie Evans is to be charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The two brothers were released to their grandmother. York County Children and Youth was notified of this incident. The child that was found wandering around did not need any medical treatment. The Northern York County Regional Police extend a thank you to the person that witnessed this incident and took action.
