On 01.17.2013 the Northern York County Regional Police Department took a report from a Dover Township resident in regards to an attempted internet scam.
The resident reported that she met a subject on an on-line dating site two months ago. The male claimed to living in China on business and that he would be returning to the United States at the end of January 2013. On 01.17.2013 the males asked the resident to wire money to a female in Florida so that the female could give the money to his Attorney to complete paperwork for his departure from China. The resident became suspicious and did not send the money.
As the resident was on her computer she received a phone call from the male. During the phone call a window popped up on the resident’s computer indicating that computer files were being copied. The resident had previously provided personal information to the male including her date of birth, address, and other personal information.
