On 01.29.2013 at 0014 hours the Northern York County Regional Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Village Square Drive in Dover Township after the homeowner reported that someone had shot a projectile into the home.
Responding Officers found that subjects had fired a potato at the home from an unknown type weapon. The potato entered the front of the home, penetrating the exterior and interior wall. The potato entered into a room occupied by two adults and their two month old child. No one was injured.
While Officers were on scene of the Village Square Drive incident a second call came in from the 3000 block of Hadley Drive. On Hadley Drive the subjects fired a potato at the rear of an unoccupied minivan. The minivan sustained minor damage in the attack.
Officers responded to a local grocery store and found that two subjects had purchased two five pound bags of potatoes between 2230 and 2300 hours. Surveillance photos were obtained. One of the subjects involved was identified by one of the investigating officers. The other was identified by a witness. Surveillance photographs also indicated that the suspect vehicle was a blue Dodge Durango SUV.
Officers then located and took the following subjects into custody;
- Cody James Cosgrove, age 19 of 187 Omaha Ave in Dover Township
- Dakota Falkenroth, age 18 of 2417 Manor Road in West Manchester Township
- John Whitecomb, age 18 of 665 Greensprings Road in Conewago Township
The three subjects were taken to Central Booking to face the following charges;
- Aggravated assault
- Discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure
- Criminal conspiracy
- Recklessly endangering another person
- Simple assault
- Criminal mischief
