York City Man Arrested After Threatening Police Departments

On 12.03.2013 at 1856 hours a call was placed to the York Newspaper Company by a male.  The male left a voicemail for a representative of the newspaper.

The voicemail included a statement from the male that he would plant a bomb at the Northern York County Regional Police Department as revenge against the police department.  The explosion was to have occurred by the end of the week.  The male also threatened to bomb the Springettsbury Township Police and the Pennsylvania State Police in the same voicemail.  The caller also indicated that he was part of a new terrorist organization based in Ireland.

The NYCRPD increased security and patrols at headquarters during the investigation.

Investigators were able to trace the phone number that the call was placed from.  The number was to belong to a Danny Wire.  Wire was believed to be living in the 200 block of East King Street.  Investigators were able to determine that Wire was living at 259 East King Street.

On 12.05.2013 Danny Wire was located at a scrap yard in York City.  He was detained by the York City Police until the arrival of NYCRPD Investigators.

The Northern York County Regional Police Department did not locate any explosives to which Wire had access.

Danny Lynn Wire age 59 of 259 East King Street was taken to Central Booking to face arraignment on the following charges;

  • Terroristic Threats
  • Threat to Use Weapons of Mass Destruction
  • Causing or Risking Catastrophe
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person

Danny Wire was arraigned by Duty MDJ David Eshbach and lodged in the York County Prison in lieu of $200,000.00 bail.
