Man Cut With Machete During Incident in North York Borough

On 05.03.2014 at 2043 hours the Northern York County Regional Police Department responded to the 1000 block of North Duke Street in North York Borough for a report of a fight and a man injured by a machete.

Upon arrival at the scene, Officers were summoned to a second floor apartment where they found a subject with lacerations to his arm and neck.  The victim had barricaded the assailant into a bedroom and was holding the door shut.  Officers took the assailant, 49 year old Michael A. Bryant, into custody.  Officers then tended to the injuries of the 36 year old victim until the arrival of EMS.  The two males lived at the address together with a third person.  The third person was not injured.

The victim was transported to York Hospital for treatment of his injuries.  The injuries are not life threatening.

The argument started over a disagreement about rent.  During the argument, Bryant brandished a machete with a 14″ blade.  As the argument ensued, Bryant struck the victim with the machete in the arm and neck.

Michael A. Bryant was transported to Central Booking to await arraignment on the following charges;

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Simple Assault
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Harassment
