On 05.06.2015 at 1123 hours the Northern York County Regional Police Department was dispatched to the 400 block of Old Stone Way in Conewago Township for a report of shots being fired.  It was reported that a subject in a white van was firing shots at a subject in a white sedan.

As Officers arrived on scene at 1125 hours a second call was received from the 1000 block of Sylvan Court.  The resident was reporting a subject on her back porch with a gun trying to get into the home.  Witnesses advised the first arriving Officer on Sylvan Court that the male was still to the rear of her home and that he was armed.  The Officer went to the rear of the home and found that the basement door was open.  The Officer entered the basement in an effort to locate the armed subject.  While the Officer was in the basement, the armed subject entered the basement from the outside and fired at least one shot at the Officer.  The Officer returned fire and struck the subject in the buttocks.  The male fled to the front of the home where he attempted to escape on a motorcycle.  The Officer and the subject then engaged in a physical struggle.  Additional Officers arrived and the male was taken into custody.

No Officers were injured.

The armed subject was found to be a 22 year old York City man.  He was transported to York Hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening wounds.

In conformance with Department policy, the Northern York County Regional Police Department notified York County District Attorney Thomas Kearney and requested that the incident be investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police.

All requests for information should be directed to the Pennsylvania State Police.
