Two Arrested Following Pursuit in Manchester Township

On 12.27.2015 at 1310 hours a Northern York County Regional Police Officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation at the intersection of North George Street and West 11th Ave.  The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver of the vehicle failed to stop for the Officer.  After a brief pursuit the operator of the vehicle and a passenger abandoned the vehicle on East 8th Ave.

The Officer engaged the two subjects in a foot pursuit through backyards of residences.  The Officer was able to tackle one of the subjects and a citizen witness tackled the other.

The subject tackled by the Officer was found to be in possession of a loaded .380 caliber handgun.  The ownership and status of the handgun are still being determined.

Both subjects were taken to Central Booking.

The driver, a 16 year old male from York City was charged with the felony Fleeing and Attempting to Elude a Police Officer as well as numerous traffic violations.

The passenger was 18 year old Esteban Samuel Martinez Velaquez (AKA Esteban Samuel Martinez-Velez) of the 300 block of West King Street in York.  Velaquez was arraigned on the following charges;

  • Firearms Not to Be Carried Without a License
  • Prohibited Offensive Weapons
  • Criminal Mischief
