{"id":15320,"date":"2020-07-02T12:46:13","date_gmt":"2020-07-02T16:46:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nycrpd.org\/?p=15320"},"modified":"2020-07-02T12:46:15","modified_gmt":"2020-07-02T16:46:15","slug":"fireworks-for-the-4th-of-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nycrpd.org\/?p=15320","title":{"rendered":"Fireworks for the 4th of July"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PA residents can purchase and use \u201cClass C\u201d fireworks.\u00a0 These fireworks are commonly known as consumer-grade fireworks.\u00a0 These can include firecrackers, bottle rockets, and other fireworks that contain a maximum of 50 milligrams of explosive materials.\u00a0 These were previously available for out of state residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Display fireworks or \u201cProfessional Grade\u201d are fireworks that contain more than 130 grains of explosive material.&nbsp; These can still only be used by a professionals that have proper permits through the state and local governing bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">High explosive fireworks including M-80s, M-1000s, quarter and half sticks are still illegal and cannot be used or possessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The law for consumer grade fireworks is as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Title 72 Section 9404 \u2013 Use of Consumer Fireworks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(a) Conditions \u2013 A person who is at least 18 years of age and meets the requirements of this article may purchase, possess, and use consumer fireworks<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>(b) Prohibitions \u2013 A person may not intentionally ignite or discharge:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;(1) Consumer fireworks on public or private property without the express permission of the owner.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;(2) Consumer fireworks or sparkling devices within, or throw consumer fireworks or sparkling devices from, a motor&nbsp;vehicle or building.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;(3) Consumer fireworks or sparkling devices into or at a motor vehicle or building or at another person.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;(4) Consumer fireworks or sparkling devices while the person is under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance&nbsp;or another drug.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;(5) Consumer fireworks within 150 feet of an occupied structure.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The NYCRPD urges everyone to use caution when using fireworks.&nbsp; Please heed the above prohibitions.&nbsp; When complaints are received and violations are found, citations will be issued to the responsible parties.&nbsp; The fine for violating the new law is $100 plus costs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PA residents can purchase and use \u201cClass C\u201d fireworks.\u00a0 These fireworks are commonly known as consumer-grade fireworks.\u00a0 These can include firecrackers, bottle rockets, and other fireworks that contain a maximum of 50 milligrams of explosive materials.\u00a0 These were previously available for out of state residents.
