On 04.30.23 6:46 AM the Northern York County Regional Police Department investigated the death of Michael Alan Byers. Michael Byers, age 42, lived in the 6400 block of Pigeon Hill Rd. in Jackson Township.
Michael Byers was found deceased outside his home by his landlord, Zachary Allen Neiman. Zachary Neiman, age 35, lived in the home at the same address as Michael Byers. Michael Byers rented a detached apartment building on the same property.
Z. Neiman found M. Byers outside lying on the ground by a fire pit. EMS responded and determined that M. Byers was deceased. M. Byers was found only wearing a pair of shorts. His entire body was covered in mud and there was obvious injury to his face.
Z. Neiman reported that he was outside alone by the fire pit on 04.29.23 around 10:00 PM. Z. Neiman advised when M. Byers came outside that he went to bed and estimated the time around 11:30 PM.
Police interviewed two neighbors who advised that on 04.29.23 they heard Z. Neiman and M. Byers arguing down by the fire pit. They briefly spoke to Z. Neiman who advised them that he had assaulted M. Byers. Z. Neiman then returned to his own home. The witnesses reported they heard Z. Neiman continue to assault M. Byers and estimated the time around 10:00 PM.
On 05.01.23 an autopsy was performed at the Lehigh Valley Health Network. The cause of death as blunt force injuries complicated by ethanol intoxication.
On 11.20.23 Zachary Allen Neiman was arrested for Murder of the Third Degree and Involuntary Manslaughter. His preliminary arraignment was before MDJ Reilly. Z. Neiman is in York County Prison.
