Financial Assistance Provided by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Honorable Josh Shapiro, Governor
The Northern York County Regional Police Department has been awarded a $2.0 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant for the ongoing construction of our new police headquarters at One Regional Way in Manchester Township. This announcement was made by Governor Josh Shapiro’s Office on Friday November 1, 2024.
The NYCRPD is the largest regional police department in the Commonwealth providing police services to 88,000 residents in 11 municipalities covering over 214 square miles of York County. Our current complement is 68 police officers.
The new NYCRPD police operations facility will accommodate its current needs while also preparing for future growth. The existing facility is outdated and lacks the space and resources required by a modern police force. The new facility will incorporate state-of-the-art technology for enhanced communications, data management, and operational efficiency, ensuring officers are equipped to handle today’s public safety demands.
The new building will provide expanded locker room spaces for both male and female officers, promoting inclusivity and supporting a growing team. It will also feature wellness and fitness areas, improving officer health, readiness, and overall job performance.
With future growth in mind, the facility is designed to accommodate additional personnel and evolving needs, ensuring it remains functional for years to come. It will include two classrooms for ongoing professional development and house the largest public safety training center in the Susquehanna Valley, positioning the NYCRPD as a regional hub for law enforcement training. This facility is key to the department’s ability to continue serving the community efficiently and effectively, both now and in the future.
Construction on the building began in April of 2024. Completion is scheduled for May of 2025.
