On 09.12.24 at 4:28 PM a Northern York County Regional Police Officer was conducting stationary patrol at the Tru by Hilton Hotel located at 1520 Toronita St. in Manchester Township. He observed a Chevrolet Malibu displaying Ohio registration plates back into a parking spot at the hotel.
The Chevrolet was occupied by a driver and three passengers. The officer observed one female exit the driver’s side rear seat and walk across the street and enter the Sheetz convenience store located at 215 Arsenal Rd. The female soon exited the Sheetz and returned to her seat in the Chevrolet Malibu. No other occupants exited the Chevrolet. There were available parking spots at the Sheetz.
The Chevrolet exited the Tru Hotel and drove onto Toronita St. The Chevrolet failed to use its turn signal when turning right from Toronita St. onto Arsenal Rd., so he conducted a traffic stop. An odor of burnt marijuana was emanating from the vehicle. The driver identified himself as “Richard Greene”, but he had no identification. While he was searching for identification the officer observed a large amount of cash in the center console.
The female that had been in the Sheetz identified herself as “Asia Johnson.” The officer recalled earlier in the day that Sheetz had made a report of being passed counterfeit money. The officer, while on the traffic stop, called the Sheetz and enquired if they had recently received any more counterfeit money. The Sheetz employee reported that a female had just passed a counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bill. Sheetz provided the officer with a photo of their suspect. The officer was able to identify the suspect as “Asia Johnson.”
The suspects were eventually positively identified. The 20-year-old female was Jaliayh Portlock of Charlotte, NC. The driver was 28-year-old male Rashee Massey from Charlotte, NC. They were arrested on scene and charged with Forgery and False Identification to Law Enforcement. Jaliayh Portlock was released on $10,000.00 bail. Rashee Massey was unable to post bail and was sent to York County Prison.
The officer seized the vehicle and executed a search warrant on it. The search of the vehicle revealed $11,300.00 in counterfeit one-hundred-dollar bills. $1,478.00 in cash, various gift cards, and marijuana.
