On 03.11.20 at 0439 hrs. the Northern York County Regional Police investigated an attempted theft of a motorcycle.  The attempted theft took place in the 3700 block of Canon Ln. in North Codorus Township.

The suspect was captured on the victim’s Ring doorbell camera. The suspect was unsuccessful in stealing the motorcycle.  He left the scene in a large SUV prior to the police department’s arrival.  To view the video, click on the link below.

At 0644 hrs. the victim called back to advise that he observed the suspect vehicle back in his neighborhood.

The police arrived on scene and found Anthony Cain, age 32, sitting in a gray 2003 GMC Yukon.  When ordered out of the vehicle Anthony Cain sped off leading the police in a pursuit.  The pursuit lasted less than two miles.

The suspect fled to his home in the 3500 block of Armory Ln.  When ordered to the ground at gunpoint by the police Anthony Cain picked up his 9 year old son and used him as a human shield.

The police eventually talked the suspect into putting down his child.  The child was not harmed.  The police used pepper spray to subdue the suspect.

Anthony Cain was taken for Memorial Hospital for the exposure to pepper spray.  He was later transported to the York County Booking Center for arraignment.  His charges include Criminal Attempt – Theft By Unlawful Taking, Endangering the Welfare of Children, Fleeing Or Attempting to Elude Police Officer, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Terroristic Threats, Loitering and Prowling at Nighttime and Criminal Mischief.  At arraignment bail was denied for Anthony Cain.
