On 04.05.20 at 11:54 the Northern York County Regional Police Department investigated a child endangerment case.  The incident happened in the 2700 block of Ridge Rd. in Manhiem Township.

The property owner advised he observed two young children swimming in his farm pond.  The spring fed pond is surrounded by fenced in pasture. The children were wearing bathing suits.  The air temperature at the time was 55 degrees.  The property owner had the children leave his land.

The police located the children at home in the 5300 block of  Blue Hill Rd.  The children , ages 6 and 9, were in fine health.  The only adult home was 19 year old Savannah Peterson.  She advised that she was currently the responsible for the children while their grandfather not home.  She had no idea that the children had left the property.

While speaking to Savannah Peterson the police noted signs of intoxication.  She was taken into custody and transported to the York County Booking Center.  She was arraigned on an Endangering the Welfare of Children charge.  Her bail was set at $5,000.00.

The grandfather returned home and took custody of the children.  York County Children and Youth was notified of the incident.
