A Northern York County Regional Police Officer canvassing the area observed a gray Scion that was parked at the Rutter’s Farm Store in Spring Grove Borough that matched the suspect vehicle.  The driver exiting the vehicle matched the suspect description.

The officer approached and took the suspect into custody.  The suspect had a black Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun protruding from his front pants pocket. The suspect was identified Alberto Gonzalez Ramos, age 50, who resides in York City.  He did possess a valid concealed weapons permit.

Alberto Gonzalez Ramos was given his Miranda Warnings and interviewed on scene.  He advised that he was the shooter.  He advised that he had been involved in a minor crash with the Chevrolet pickup truck that he had been shooting at on Hanover Rd.  He advised both vehicles had turned left from Lincoln Highway onto Hanover Rd when the Chevrolet drifted into his lane and struck his vehicle.

Alberto Gonzalez Ramos advised he was attempting to get the driver of the Chevrolet to stop but he would not stop.  He advised in an attempt to stop the pickup truck he passed it and then stopped his own vehicle on Hanover Rd. at Biesecker Rd.  When the driver of the pickup truck swerved around him and continued on Hanover Rd. he drew his handgun and began to fire at the Chevrolet.

Alberto Gonzalez Ramos advised he fired 5-6 shots at the pickup truck.  He stated that he aimed at the tires in attempt to stop the vehicle.  When asked if he had any information on the fleeing vehicle he advised he had copied the pickup truck’s license plate number down on a piece of paper.

By running the registration plate the police were able to locate the victim of this incident.  The victim, a 60 year old male, was located at his home.  His vehicle had bullet holes in the rear bumper.  A rear tire was also flat from being shot with a gun.   The victim confirmed that there was a minor crash between the two vehicles on Hanover Rd. at Lincoln Highway prior to the suspect shooting at him.

It was undetermined why both vehicles did not initially pull over and exchange information when the initial fender bender crash happened.  The police were able to recover six 9mm spent shell casings at the intersection where the incident occurred.

Alberto Gonzalez Ramos was transported to the York County Booking Center where he was arraigned on charges of  Aggravated Assault, Propulsion of Missiles Into an Occupied Vehicle, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Simple Assault, Criminal Mischief and Disorderly Conduct.
