On November 5, 2022, a Northern York County Regional Police Officer was patrolling housing developments in northern Manchester Township due to recent thefts from vehicles occurring in the area. The officer came across a bicycle that had wet tires, but no dew had accumulated on the bicycle.
The officer alerted other patrol units that responded to the area. A suspect was located but evaded capture by fleeing on foot through wooded areas. The police officers kept tracking the suspect on foot and by vehicle.
The suspect was eventually spotted again on Penn State Dr. which is over a 1 mile was from the location where he was initially spotted. After another foot pursuit the suspect was eventually apprehended in the 2500 block of Brandywine Ln.
The suspect was identified as 23 year old Logan Mesteller from East Petersburg, PA. He had just stolen .380 caliber Taurus handgun that day from a vehicle on Church Rd.
Logan Mesteller was arraigned on the charges of Firearms Not to be Carried Without a License, Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, and Loitering and Prowling at Nighttime. His bail was set at $150,000.00.
Logan Mesteller will be charged with multiple counts of Theft from Motor Vehicles regarding the 15 plus previous theft reports that were made to the police.
