On 05.13.24 at 3:52 AM the Northern York County Regional Police Department investigated a burglary at Thornton Automotive – Dover. Thornton Automotive is located at 3885 Carlisle Rd. in Dover Township. 

Two suspects entered the lot and smashed a window of a Chevrolet Camaro. The suspects used the Chevrolet Camaro to ram the front doors of the business. Inside the showroom of the business was a 2016 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, which the thieves attempted to steal. The burglars were thwarted when the Chevrolet Camaro became stuck on the front stairs and doorway of the showroom. 

The thieves did obtain the keys to a 2021 Dodge Challenger that was parked outside on the lot of Thorton Automotives. The thieves stole the 2021 Dodge Challenger and fled the scene. This vehicle was located, unoccupied, on 05.14.24 in Hagerstown, MD. Hagerstown Police Department impounded the vehicle.

Northern York County Regional Police Detectives processed the recovered stolen vehicle for DNA. Detectives located a single hair in the back seat of the vehicle and also swabbed the steering wheel and gear shifter. The DNA evidence was submitted for analysis. On 04.25.25 PSP Labs reported that a DNA profile was generated and matched a subject in the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). The DNA profile matched Andrew Tyler Boyd.

Andrew Boyd was located in the Adams County Prison on unrelated charges. He is awaiting arraignment on charges of Burglary, Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Criminal Mischief.
