On 03.25.2021 at 1743 hours, the Northern York County Regional Police Department was dispatched with other emergency responders to the area of Hershey Road in Jackson Township for a swimming accident.
Initial investigation found that an 11 and 12 year old males had gone to the area of a low head dam in order to swim in the Codorus Creek. The 11 year old male began struggling in the current of the dam and submerged. The 12 year old male ran for help.
A responding NYCRPD Officer and a firefighter located the 11 year old male near the south bank of the creek. They pulled him onto the creek bank and began life saving efforts.
The 11 year old was transported to York Hospital by Spring Grove Area EMS for treatment. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital by the York County Coroner’s Office.
